Mother Lover is sustainability made simple. We provide access to genuinely eco-friendly home and personal care goods. At Mother Lover, you can find soaps, lotions, and detergents that are plastic-free, refillable, non-toxic, and all-natural. From start to finish (or reuse), our goods are better for you and the planet.
what is YOUR WHY?
I have always been passionate about the environment but never brought my activism home. When I had my daughter and experienced postpartum depression centered around eco-doom, I only found freedom and light by creating tangible change at home. When the compost became fuller than the garage, diapers weren't piling up by the dozen, and our cleaning products didn't worry me, I knew that my power as a consumer was far greater than we could ever imagine. I created Mother Lover to make sustainable living more accessible. I hope to empower everyone to make small changes that lead to significant impact. Together we can create a new standard of household goods.
What PROBLEM DOES YOUR BUSINESS SOLVE? AND WHY ARE YOU THE BEST PERSON TO SOLVE IT?
Mother Lover fills a gap in access to sustainable goods on a local level. Areas such as West Palm Beach, Lake Worth Beach, Palm Beach Gardens, etc., have to drive pretty far to reach the next low-waste store. I am the best person to solve this problem because my goals for Mother Lover center around convenience and accessibility. I will do this with a full-scale delivery system, local pop-up refill stations, and vending machines. My skills, experience, and passion for activism, environmentalism, and marketing uniquely equip me to take on this mission.
WhY DID YOU JOIN THE 1909 ACCELERATOR?
I had first heard about the 1909 accelerator program when Rohi's Readery went through it with massive success. I look up to their relentless passion and skill for moving within their mission on the consumer level. I can only believe that the tools and community built in 1909 helped somehow. I took the leap to apply when fellow vendors, customers, graduate accelerator members, and friends saw the potential for Mother Lover to excel here. I am so grateful they did!
You aren't just joining a 6 month class, you are now a part of a tight knit group of ideators, entrepreneurs, movers and shakers. How do you plan to contribute to the community?
I think my best contribution to this community will be my strengths in listening and brainstorming. I take pride in my ability to first hear people for their own ideas and passions, ask questions, and then contribute when prompted. Many small business owners, including myself, lack mentors and fellows that walk similar paths. I hope to gain that and, in return, be a trampoline of creative ideas. Empathy and creativity are characteristics I hold in high regard. I will work to portray those at every moment in this process.
WHAT WOULD YOU LIKE HELP WITH FROM OUR 1909 COMMUNITY?
I have a lot of ideas. I would call this program successful if I were to walk out of it with a community of people who can allow me to bounce those off their minds and help me develop creative solutions that keep to my sustainability standard. Furthermore, I hope to gain access to mentors that can guide me in areas I am still working to understand.
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE LIFE LESSON?
It's cliche, but I believe this journey has taught me that we are so much more powerful than we think or are taught. Often we walk through life being told our actions will never make a difference. Whether you fight climate change, navigate a relationship, protest injustice, join a school club, or simply use eco-friendly products, your choices make a difference. Our impact is limitless when we step into our power with empathy, curiosity, candor, and commitment.
ANYTHING ELSE YOU WANT US TO KNOW?
I want people to know that I am working to build Mother Lover so that people like me can have easier access to better products. I am not zero-waste. I do not make the right choices all the time. I am imperfectly trying my best to do better for the planet's future. Here everyone is part of the club no matter what your experience in eco-friendly shopping is. Together our power to make a difference is so much greater!
